Have an old rug that doesn t match your style anymore.
The only items i had to buy for this diy project were the rit dye and the scotchgard.
I took the rug outside laid it on an old shower curtain dissolved the dye and put it into an empty windex container.
Do not use dish soap that contains bleach.
Heat set in the dryer and its ready to use.
Grab a bottle of rit dye and watch this to get the rug of your dreams without the big cost of replacin.
Everything else i already had at home and i would imagine that most other people do too.

What do you do with a rug that is stained but otherwise usable.
So keep that in mind.
Remove the rug from the dye as you squeeze out any remaining water dye from the rug.
Do not add more liquid dish soap as this will not enhance the solution s ability to remove the dye and will simply make the carpet harder to rinse.
With a simple and cheap dye job you can give it a new lease on life.
If you are working with an area rug that is originally fairly light in color and has little to no pattern dye your rug a darker color that works better with your new décor.
Then i sprayed the dye all over the rug until the color was fairly even.
Running the rug through the dryer did change the texture of the rug a little bit made it fluffier and i kind of with i wouldn t have done it.
Lay flat until dry.
